Home For the Holidays

Hi viewers! Yesterday my tennis team and I had our end-of-season party at Pizza Hut and it was pretty fun I suppose...for a 45 minute party anyway. It was really short and I was still sort of hungry afterwards since I only had one piece of pizza. I'm kinda sad it's over though. Tennis is really fun and I love that feeling of power that comes with your racket. (Note: Tennis rackets are not to be used for evil.)

This is Becca on the cover.
Today's book is called Home For the Holidays by Heather Vogel Frederick. This is the latest book in the Mother-Daughter Book Club series. In this book the girls are reading the Betsy-Tacy series by Maud Hart Lovelace. The book club crew helps Gigi test out some breakfast foods for Pies and Prejudice the (tea shop that she owns), and also welcome Becca's grandma to their book club. When Christmas rolls around though, they are all heading off to different destinations. Becca and Megan are going on a cruise, Jess and Emma are leaving to a place that Jess's uncle and Aunt own, and Cassidy is off to California. Becca and Megan are facing some tension in their friendship because of a mistaken action between Becca and the captain's son. Jess is feeling blue because her BFF is hanging out way more with her cousin Felicia and totally ignoring Jess, while Felicia gossips with Emma behind Jess's back causing Emma to think differently of her best friend--without hearing Jess's side of the story. Cassidy visits her old friend in California and experiences a Jewish Christmas while another life-altering change to her life waits around the corner. And then there's boys to think about too. Poor Megan's broken up with Simon the English boy who swapped houses with Emma, and Megan's furious that he broke up with her via email. Cassidy is confused about who she likes, if she likes them, or even if she WANTS to like anyone. Becca is jealous because of how much time Zach Norton is spending with Cassidy and wants him all to herself. Emma and Jess are faring well, even though Emma has her suspicions about Jess's love life. So with all of this going on, how on earth are they going to handle all of this? Read and find out!

Seana's opinion about the book: Well...I didn't really like this one as well as the others. The author added another chapter that Becca narrates, and the sad thing is that the Becca logo is the same as Emma's--like the author was too lazy to give Becca her own logo. And on the cover they show WAY to much of Becca's face. Another thing that I didn't like is that they put Becca's chapters usually right after Megan's chapters, so it's like reading the same thing over again. It's kinda lame actually... Oh and the book ends at a really weird spot, so it seems like she's going to write more books in the future. Honestly, sadly this was my one of my least favorites so far. But the book does have good word choice and fluency, so I would totally recommend this book to other Mother-Daughter Book Club lovers, and other people who want a change of pace for their books. But be sure to read the other books first!

Seana's question of the day: If you could be any kind of animal, what would you be? (Respond with your opinion in a comment! It can be a fantasy animal like a pegasus, or a real one, like a panda! Even bugs work!)

Love,
